Our ego eschews the ever-unfolding obsolescence of what "I" thought "I" was, overlooking the promise of what We will become. But the withered flower swells into fruit, which turns to seed that falls into the decomposed remains of all that has lived before it. Nurtured through the long, dark winter until coaxed forth from this fertile underworld by the warmth of vernal awakening, it reaches toward the sun to flourish again. Creation and re-creation are reflected in all the ancient calendars, whose authors perceived time as an infinite repetition of cycles within cycles. At the end of the Mayan Calendar in 2012, many people projected apocalyptic implications upon its meaning, though a new calendar had already begun. The serpent devours its tail. Now, at the beginning of time, we find our way back, from fear to love, before the insatiable, unsustainable "I", to reconnect with and participate in the perpetual glory of all creation."
