My art comes from a deep place, the unconscious. Sometimes I get a flash in my mind, but mostly it comes to me through dreams. Dreams are a window through which our unconscious filters into our known selves. I have these deep callings towards things that are good in life, in the world: some call them archetypes, some call them human nature. I call them the whispers of God leading me to a deeper, more sacred life. These things call us: they call me, they call you, they call all of us. So part of what I explore in my art has to do with the symbols that represent these deep meanings. How do we digest what these mean in our lives? How do we feel these deep unexplainable things, and then turn them into something real in our present moment? My goal as an artist is to help us pay attention to these deep rumblings, these deep earthquakes, these deep gusts of wind that vibrate through us. Observe my art through the questions that arise within your own soul! Imminent Mode Retrospective Imminent Mode’s mission is to establish a community of artists and designers to bring their disciplines together and play with the juxtaposition of creative expression; to foster an open a dialog and communicate ideas based on a theme. Open to interpretation by each pairing, two wearable pieces of art are created: one piece for exhibition and one to be walked on runway; both archived in an editorial photoshoot. The curators behind Imminent Mode (Adé Cônnére, Anouk Rawkson, Jordan Christianson, and Stephanie Jamieson) present this micro-collection as a small taste of the past 3 years defining this mission.
